TransTech's instruments have created a Non-Nuclear alternative for the Asphalt and Soil Density gauge market. Our gauges can be used at construction sites domestically and internationally, as well as by all of the branches of the military for use in construction. Density gauges are used to measure the density of soils and asphalt in preparation for and during construction projects. The nuclear gauges contain radioactive material, Cesium and Americium, subject them to very restrictive requirements as to their transport, use and storage. Currently, they cannot be transported in some commercial and military
aircraft. On jobsites or in theater, Nuclear Density Gauges are required to be stored in a separate location which identifies them clearly and requires significant training and oversight for all personnel in their use and storage. There is a strong demand for and alternative to Nuclear gauges.
